Our Music Ministry
Praise the Lord! Music has traditionally been an enriching
testament to the United Methodist faith. The church's
music is an uplifting and graceful way to pray. And who
says you can't have fun with some of the more spirited hymns and
praise songs that seem to invite you to sway to the music, clap
your hands, and even tap your feet. We can do that in the
comfort of Wright's Chapel.
We're fortunate to have a Music Director, Clay Motley, who
encourages folks to get involved. We would love to have
you join our choir, which sings at the 8:45 a.m. Sunday
service. Practice is at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. If
you play a musical instrument and are willing, Clay can envision
using your talent in an ensemble or praise band to accompany the
choir, soloists, or simply provide special spiritual music
during our worship services. In the absence of the choir,
our 11:00 a.m. Sunday service features soloists who share their
ministry with us through music. Our youth are a great
resource for these opportunities to serve.
The selection of hymns for our worship services reflects the
diversity of our congregation. And also the theme of that
day's sermon. From week to week you'll join in singing a
variety of the old favorites, gospel songs, new contemporary
songs, and praise songs. Occasionally, we're blessed to
have our own religious dance group present their interpretation
of a spiritual message.
As much as hymns are a part of prayer, we recognize that not
everyone feels they can carry a tune or sing in public.
Not to worry. It's only a few hymns that are scattered
throughout the worship service. Whether you sing or just
listen, you're still offering up your prayers to God. And
you can still sway to the music, clap your hands, and tap your
feet.
