I came to Wright's Chapel in 2003 to serve as
Ministry Assistant. My position has changed over the years
as the church and staff have grown, but my primary
responsibility has always been and will continue to be Christian
Education. I oversee our Sunday school and other
educational ministries. I work with our Afterschool
programs and frequently teach adult classes. I also have
administrative responsibilities as most of the work of our
current secretary and youth director used to be a part of my job
before those positions existed.
I first entered ministry full-time after I graduated from
college when I became a US-2 missionary of the United Methodist
Church. I served for two years at the Open Door Community
House in Columbus, Georgia. It was very rewarding and
extremely exhausting. When I joined the US-2 program, I
was not looking for a long-term career or expecting to be in
ministry past that two year commitment. But by the end of
the term, my ideas about my future had begun to change. I
decided to go back to school and earned my Master of Arts in
Christian Education. Since graduate school, I have worked
in several churches as an educator and as the director of a
church-related child care center.
I am so happy to be at Wright's
Chapel. Serving in such a vibrant church, open to change and new
ideas and experiences is truly rewarding. I find that I can not
only use my gifts in service, but I can help others find ways to use
their unique gifts as well. The flexibility and hospitality of
the Wright's Chapel Community makes it possible for people to find their
niche and serve God just as they are. I am truly blessed to be
able to be apart of this community.
